Laser cutting offers many advantages over punching as there is no tooling required. This reduces both costs and set up times, yet results in a cleaner cut. Furthermore, with laser cutting, there are no unsightly witness marks, which is a vital consideration when a high level of finish is required.

Laser cutting offers the flexibility to cut the simplest of shapes, as well as highly intricate profiles. This has opened up the possibility of laser cutting parts which, due to their complexity, were previously machined or cut by waterjet. Both of these alternatives are far more costly metal fabrication processes.
